BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE EDA MEETING OF <br />TUESDAY, May 15, 2018 <br />3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the March 20, 2018, EDA meeting as presented. <br />4. BUSINESS TOUR — WESTERN SPRING <br />Staff has set up a business visit for Western Spring located at 13153 Fenway Blvd. N. Hugo, MN 55038. <br />They have completed their new 35,000 square foot building in the Bald Eagle Industrial Park. The <br />business was located in a different building in the industrial park and they recently relocated to a new <br />property and expanded their building. Please report to the business to start the meeting and then we <br />will go back to City Hall to finish the meeting agenda. <br />5. DISCUSSION ON WASHINGTON COUNTY CDA PREDEVELOPMENT GRANT <br />Washington County CDA now offers Predevelopment Grants, which is intended to provide economic <br />development funds to cities, townships and local government development authorities located in <br />Washington County. These funds are intended to: 1) increase the availability of shovel ready properties <br />in the county; 2) provide opportunities for our existing businesses to stay and grow here in Washington <br />County; 3) spur new business development and job opportunities in the County; 4) provide opportunities <br />for business diversity; 5) increased commercial and industrial market values within Washington County, <br />and 6) assist with removing blighted properties. <br />Staff will discuss with the EDA possible projects that could be funded by the grant funds available. <br />6. UPDATE ON 2040 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />Staff will update the EDA on the 2040 Comprehensive Plan process at the meeting. <br />7. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT <br />Staff will provide an update on downtown redevelopment at the meeting. <br />
