BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE EDA MEETING OF <br />TUESDAY, JULY 17, 2018 <br />3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the June 19, 2018, EDA meeting as presented. <br />4. DISCUSSION ON ECONOMIC WORK PLAN WITH CHRIS ENG <br />Staff would like to start the process for an economic development work plan, with help from Chris Eng <br />from Washington County CDA. The EDA has previously prepared work plans in regards to economic <br />development efforts. These plan are now out of date. The EDA does set goals each year that are usually <br />ongoing activities. Staff would like discuss short term goals and action steps to achieve these goals. <br />The work plan focus includes identifying and setting short term goals for economic development as well <br />as plans to achieve set goals through action steps and deliverables. Progress and success of plan will be <br />regularly reported to EDA. Chris Eng will present to the EDA on the work plan at the meeting. <br />5. APPOINTMENT OF EDA COMMISIONER TO HOPKINS SCHOOLHOUSE SUBCOMITEE <br />During the July 2, 2018 meeting, members of the City Council approved a request from the City's <br />Historical Commission to form a committee tasked with addressing a number of items related to the <br />Hopkins Schoolhouse. These items include repair of the roof, evaluating public and private partnerships, <br />as well as pursuing listing on the National Register. Staff recommends the EDA Council to appoint a <br />member to be on the Hopkins Schoolhouse Committee. The Council will formally appoint committee <br />members at their August 6, 2018, City Council meeting. <br />6. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT <br />Staff will provide an update on downtown redevelopment at the meeting. <br />
