interest in re-evaluating the City's solar ordinance following the application for a solar farm last <br />year. The City needs to create an ordinance to regulate "small -cell" communication structures as <br />a result of recent changes to state laws. <br />The Historical Commission hired an intern in 2018 who has collected information about <br />the Hopkins Schoolhouse. A Committee has been established that will present recommendations <br />in February concerning the future of the Schoolhouse. The intern has established a social media <br />presence for the Commission and has made significant progress in cataloging the city's history. <br />Much of this historical information is being made more available to the public and is being <br />organized in a searchable format. The Commission would also like to add additional members to <br />the Commission, continue to improve their social media presence, maintain the display case, and <br />host open houses. <br />The Beautification Subcommittee has been established and has been making <br />recommendations on entry signs, landscaping, monuments, and other items to improve the city's <br />appearance. This year, a new monument sign at the city's north entrance is anticipated. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends council use the information provided to discuss and prepare a list of goals for <br />2019. <br />
