• Based on P8 modeling, undeveloped property within the City of Hugo
currently generates .12, .18, .31, and .43 pounds of total phosphorus per
year per acre of land having A, B, C, and D soils respectively.
• P8 modeling predicts undeveloped property within the City of Hugo
generates .11, .17, .30, and .41 acre feet of runoff volume per year per acre
of undeveloped land A, B, C, and D soils respectively.
• Based on analysis by Houston Engineering as well as by WSB &
Associates, infiltration of the first inch of runoff from impervious surfaces
will reduce annual runoff volumes and the corresponding pollutant load by
approximately 80%.
• Based on an evaluation of the regional impacts of development, if the
runoff volume generate by impervious surfaces is estimated at
approximately 18 inches per year and this amount is increased by 25% to
24 inches per year, on an annual basis the increase in runoff volume
created by impervious and pervious surface could be fully mitigated.
• On average, for areas in the City of Hugo, the P8 modeling indicates that
if 2 acre feet of untreated runoff are infiltrated, two pounds of phosphorus
load will be removed.
• On average, for each acre of impervious surface within a development,
will generate 2 acre feet of additional runoff volume.
CIP for Storm Water Projects Within the City of Hugo
City of Hugo, MN
WSB Project No. 1687-85
Page 18
