wsb <br />June 27, 2019 <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />City of Hugo <br />14669 Fitzgerald Avenue North <br />Hugo, MN 55038 <br />Re: Gravel Roads 2019 Reclamation Project <br />WSB Project No. R-011950-000 <br />Dear Mayor and Council Members: <br />Last year, City Council and staff discussed gravel roads at numerous City Council work sessions. <br />The result of these work sessions was to reclaim 1.67 miles of roadways (Ingersoll Avenue, 175tn <br />o St, Inwood Ave, 180th Street) to improve the overall gradation of the class 5 roadway material, <br />a. assess how the reclaimed roadways perform, and determine if it is worthwhile to pursue <br />z reclaiming the remaining 5 miles of problem gravel roadways in 2019. At the May 6, 2019 City <br />m Council meeting, staff reported that the gravel roads reclaimed in 2018 were now performing in <br />� the top tier of all of our gravel roads. City Council authorized staff to receive quotes on the <br />remaining problem gravel roads identified in on the attached figure. <br />0 LO <br />00 Staff sent out a quote package for this work and received two quotes back as outlined below <br />ID <br />Co <br />N Midstate Reclamation - $19,600 <br />Ln <br />• K OConnor LLC - $22,400 <br />*Bids assumed 40 hours of work and two separate mobilizations. <br />LO <br />LO <br />Public works staff was also authorized to purchase a rubber tire roller to improve our grading <br />z practices. This piece of equipment has been purchased and will no longer be required to be <br />rented for this or future reclamation projects. Public Works staff will rent a sheep's foot roller to <br />aid in the compaction of the reclaimed material <br />a <br />a <br />Z Staff is recommending City Council Award a contract to Midstate Reclamation in the amount of <br />a $19,600.
