Page 2 of 3 <br />Parks Commission Agenda <br />May 15, 2019 <br /> <br />Background <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br />Meeting of May 15, 2019 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br /> <br />Approve Minutes from April 17, 2019 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of April 17, 2019. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MINUTES. <br /> <br />Kathy Marier Memorial <br />At the meeting of February 9, 2018, the Parks Commission heard a proposal from Pete Pederson, <br />representing the Hugo Lions Club for a memorial in Lions Park. The Lions Club would like to honor Kathy <br />Marier for her service to the Hugo Parks Commission with a plaque (installed on a boulder) to be placed in <br />Lions Park. The Hugo Lions Club plan to take care of all costs and coordination efforts. The installation <br />ceremony would take place during Hugo Good Neighbor Days. The inscription would read: <br /> <br />In grateful acknowledgement <br />of her service to Hugo’s parks system, <br />we honor the memory of <br />Kathryn Marier. <br />(1958-2004) <br />Her vision and leadership led to the establishment <br />of the Hugo Parks Commission in 1998, serving as Chair. <br />She initiated the construction of the first playground in Hugo <br />which was built in the fall of 1998 located here in Lions Park. <br /> <br />We are better because of your efforts. <br /> <br /> <br />Adelaide Landing Park Plan <br />The Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission reviewed a sketch plan of Adelaide Landing at their July <br />13, 2016 which included an area for a park. Excelsior Group made a proposal for park dedication that <br />included a combination of 7.8 acres of land plus $1,128 per unit in fees which the Parks Commission <br />approved. It was also agreed upon to work together on the park <br /> <br />At the meeting of January 11, 2019 The Parks Commission heard an update on Adelaide Landing. Ben <br />Schmidt from Excelsior Group informed that Adelaide Landing 1st and 2nd Additions are nearly complete and <br />that the 3rd Addition is ready to start. Excelsior Group is proposing a partnership with the City to complete <br />the park. The City of Hugo would plan the park and install the majority of the park features. Excelsior Group <br />would construct paved areas within the park as a part of their upcoming pavement projects in exchange for a <br />reduction in their park dedication fees.
