Background <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br />Meeting of October 18, 2017 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br />Approve Minutes from September 20, 2017 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of September 20, 2017. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MINUTES. <br />Creekside Heights Sketch Plan <br />A request for a sketch plan review has been received from the Lincoln Group. The proposed development is <br />on 132 acres of vacant land east of Highway 61 and west of Oneka Lake. The development would consist of a <br />combination of single family, villa, and townhomes totaling 251 residential units. The applicant is proposing <br />to construct trails throughout the development and a fishing pier on Oneka Lake. The developer has not <br />provided a proposal for park dedication with specifics, but has indicated that it may be a combination of land <br />and fee. The applicant is looking for informal comments from the Parks Commission and a recommendation <br />is not needed at this time. The Parks Commission should provide input on the proposed trail system and <br />possible park dedication. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MEMO. <br />Existing Parks Survey <br />At the meeting of September 20, 2017, the Parks Commission reviewed Hugo's 18 existing parks. There was <br />a discussion on updates to the parks including adding exercise equipment, new play features, and more <br />benches to the parks. Discussion also included looking at the current landscaping at the parks, talking with <br />the surrounding residents to see what they feel is in need of improvement at the parks, and the prioritizing <br />and budgeting of the improvements and upgrades. Staff reviewed the parks and their condition and has <br />prepared a list of maintenance tasks with Public Works. Staff has also prepared a list of larger scale projects <br />that require schedule and budget consideration. <br />THE EXISTING PARKS SURVEY CHART IS ATTACHED. <br />Meeting Schedule Update <br />Staff recommends that the Parks Commission re -schedule their December meeting to December 13 or cancel <br />it.
