6,10 <br />City of Hugo <br />Position Title: Engineer <br />Department: Hugo Fire Department <br />Immediate Supervisor's: Chief Engineer <br />Pay Grade: $.50 above firefighter scale <br />Purpose: <br />Perform duties essential to the Fire Department <br />Organizational Relationships: <br />Reports to: Chief Engineer <br />Communicates with: Fire Department head, firefighters and other city staff <br />Supervises: None <br />Receives work assignments from: Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Chief Engineer and other Fire Department <br />heads. <br />Essential Duties/Responsibilities: <br />The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive; <br />other duties may be required or assigned. <br />Essential Functions: <br />• Operate all apparatus safely. <br />• Be knowledgeable in all aspects of pumping, drafting and apparatus operations. <br />• Verify all vehicle and equipment are in good working order and safe. <br />• Keep records of maintenance, inspections and repairs. <br />• Maintain inventory or equipment and supplies pertinent to fire and rescue apparatus and equipment. <br />• Administer first aid to all injured persons. <br />• Communicate with supervisor. <br />• Attend 60% of all Fire and Rescue Training drills and 60% of work drills <br />• Act as the representative of the Fire Department at community events. <br />• Maintain and reach the established percentage needed to be held in good standing of the Fire <br />Department for on -call status <br />• Considerable knowledge of city street, geography, hydrant areas and local water source locations. <br />Other Functions: <br />• Instruct other firefighters in the proper use of all apparatus and equipment. <br />• Complete monthly engineer truck check lists as assigned by the Chief Engineer. (see appendix A for <br />example). <br />• Provide positive attitude in performance of duties. <br />• Recommend changes that would benefit the operation at the station and/or emergency response. <br />• Attend required, meetings that are over and above those required of a firefighter. <br />• Participate in drill demonstrations, courses in hydraulics, pump operation and maintenance, <br />firefighting techniques and medical training. <br />
