No response. See others.
2.
a. Architectural Metal Panels (AMP) are a high quality exterior cladding material that is
widely used for a variety of architectural projects including, housing, office, retail, sports,
cultural and civic buildings. The use Architectural Metal Panels is common in suburban
communities within the Twin Cities area as well as Minneapolis and St. Paul, and throughout
the country. AMP have been in use for a long time, and are becoming a standard exterior
building product throughout the construction industry. Architectural Metal Panels provide
project developers a more sustainable and energy efficient exterior material than the listed
permissible materials such as pre -cast concrete or masonry. They also provide for a greater
variety of exterior appearance and application.
b. The Eagles Landing Development is being constructed using the construction methods
utilized by the JL Schwieters Company. Engineered wood framing is a more energy efficient
and sustainable construction method than typical methods - eliminating high CO2 emitting
concrete/cement materials. AMP are a common accepted exterior material, denying the use
of AMP for this project would be an undue burden on the project compared to construction in
adjacent communities where these materials are widely accepted.
c. The proposed use of Architectural Metal Panels provide a pleasing transitional material to
the surrounding mixed use neighborhood. The panels provide a light less heavy appearance.
The wood grain panels particularly make an graceful transition to the nearby housing
developments. The AMP also provide greater flexibility in placing openings and material
variety than the more restrictive pre -cast or masonry materials - allowing the project to have
a more diverse and accessible exterior design.
3. We understand many communities have fought the scourge of low quality "pole barn" type
corrugated metal panels and have written ordinances prohibit their use. The AMP proposed
for Eagles Landings bare little resemblance to those materials. These are a much higher grade
product with thicker gauge material, better finish coatings and finer detailed fabrication.
AMPS are far superior to the permitted painted pre -cast wall panel used on adjacent
buildings. These will be an enhancement to the project.
4. NA
612.767.3773 3533 E LAKE STREET MPLS, MN 55406,
