Agenda Item E.2 <br />CITY OF HUGO <br />PARKS COMMISSION MEMO <br />TO: City of Hugo Planning Commission <br />FROM: Shayla Denaway, Parks Planner <br />SUBJECT: Lions Park Design Development <br />DATE: September 30, 2020 for the Planning Commission meeting of October 8, <br />2020 <br />1. INTRODUCTION: <br />Design of Lions Park is moving forward this fall and Staff is seeking volunteers from the <br />Planning Commission to help design the pavilion and playground. <br />2. BACKGROUND: <br />A Feasibility Study for Lions Park was reviewed by the City Council and Parks <br />Commission at a joint workshop on June 29, 2020. The study included minor updates to <br />the Lions Park Master Plan, which was approved in 2015, as well as updated cost <br />estimates. The City Council adopted the Feasibility Study at their July 20, 2020 meeting. <br />A community workshop will be held remotely on Monday, October 12 at 7:00pm. <br />Residents and all Commissioners are invited to participate and share their input on the <br />park. <br />Lions Park will be designed this fall, construction documents drafted this winter, and <br />constructed in summer 2021. Two stakeholder groups which will be made up of <br />Councilmembers, Parks Commissioners, Planning Commissioners and staff will work <br />with consultants to design the pavilion and playground. Each stakeholder group will <br />meet three times between October and early December. <br />3. RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the Planning Commission select one representative Commissioner for <br />the Pavilion Stakeholder Committee and one representative for the Playground <br />Stakeholder Committee. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />1.
