rCITY O
EST 1906
2019 EDAANNUAL REPORT
A Year in Review...
his Annual Report is designed to showcase the economic
development activity during 2019 and to showcase the
commercial and industrial businesses that have seen
success throughout the year. The goal of the Hugo
Economic Development Authority (EDA) is to create a thriving
community with diverse jobs and tax base by emphasizing
business retention, business expansion, and business attraction in
the community. Hugo's business community continues to expand
due to strong residential growth and an attractive business
environment. This year the City issued 96 new single-family
residential permits, 4 multifamily permits, and 5 commercial and
industrial construction permits. The overall valuation of the
commercial and industrial construction completed in the City in
2019 was $896,000 and totaled 11,550 square feet. In this Annual
Report, the EDA highlights development project updates, EDA
business activities, and the marketing of City owned property in
downtown Hugo. The City of Hugo and the EDA welcomes all of the
new and growing businesses to Hugo and are excited about the
new jobs and services they provide to the community.
2019 EDA Goals
In December of each year, the EDA has a goal setting session to
set priorities for the year ahead. These become the outline for what
the EDA works on and completes throughout the year. Below are
the goals which include action items that the EDA worked on during
2019.
EDA Commissioners:
Tom Weidt, President
Phil Klein, Vice President
Tom Denaway
Mike Gallivan
Joe Houle
Cindy Petty
Frank Puleo
