City of Hugo <br />Position Title: Deputy Chief <br />Department: Hugo Fire Department <br />Immediate Supervisor’s Title: Fire Chief <br />Pay Grade: Part-time/Paid on-call <br />Salary: Per city salary resolution <br /> <br />Purpose <br />Perform duties essential to the Fire Department <br /> <br />Organizational Relationships <br />Reports to: Fire Chief <br />Communicate with: Fire Department Officers, Firefighters and other city staff <br />Supervises: Directs the work of the Safety Captain, Chief Engineer, and other subordinate staff <br />Receives work assignments from: Fire Chief <br /> <br />Essential Duties / Responsibilities <br />The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all <br />inclusive; other duties may be required or assigned <br /> <br />Essential Functions <br />• All essential functions of Safety Captain and Chief Engineer <br />• Assists the Fire Chief in the development, planning and implementation of the goals and <br />objectives of the department <br />• Directs and oversees multi-company response to an emergency event <br />• Supervises and provides day to day oversight for Safety Captain and Chief Engineer <br />• Serves as the incident commander at emergency scenes as needed <br />• Work within the given budget <br />• May assume full control of the Fire Department in the absence of the Fire Chief <br />• Act as a representative of the Fire Department at community events <br />• Attain the established percentages needed for calls and training to be held in good standing <br />with the Fire Department <br />• Establishes the communication plan for the department
