<br /> <br />April 29, 2021 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />City of Hugo <br />14669 Fitzgerald Avenue North <br />Hugo, MN 55038 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: 2021 Downtown Improvement and Lions Park Redevelopment Projects <br /> Approve Plans and Specifications and Authorize the Advertisement for Bids <br /> WSB Project No. 015887-000 and 016969-000 <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Mayor and Council, <br /> <br />Previously the Council had authorized staff to prepare plans and specifications for the 2021 <br />Downtown Improvement and Lions Park Redevelopment Projects. Proposed improvements for the <br />2021 Downtown Improvement project include street improvements and drainage improvements <br />along the following roadways: <br /> <br /> 147th Street from just west of TH 61 to Finale Avenue <br /> The extension of 147th Street from Finale Avenue to Oneka Boulevard <br /> Flay Avenue north of 147th Street to its existing termination point <br /> Upper 146th Street from Finale Avenue to Fitzgerald Avenue <br /> 146th Street from Finale Avenue to Fitzgerald Avenue <br /> Finley Avenue from Upper 146th Street to 145th Street <br /> Fitzgerald Avenue from 147th Street to 145th Street <br /> Oneka Parkway at 147th Street (intersection and turn lanes) <br /> <br />Park Improvements include the full site development including, grading, sidewalk, trails and <br />amenities. <br /> <br />Plans and Specifications have been prepared for both the Lions Park Redevelopment and the <br />2021 Downtown Street Improvement Projects and are ready to be advertised for bidding. Staff is <br />recommending these projects be bid as one project with one contractor. The City will benefit from <br />a coordination and cost-effectiveness standpoint. Staff is requesting approval of the plans and <br />specifications for the combined project and authorization to advertise for bids. Staff will place the <br />advertisement for bids which is required to run for a minimum of 21 days. Plans and <br />Specifications are available for your review at City Hall. It is anticipated that consideration of <br />awarding a construction contract will occur at the June 21, 2021 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of the resolution approving plans and specifications and ordering <br />advertisement for bids for the 2021 Downtown Improvement Project and the Lions Park <br />Redevelopment Project. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
