RESOLUTION 2021-36
<br />RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING COUNCIL MEMBER CHUCK HAAS FOR HIS 22+ YEARS OF PUBLIC
<br />SERVICE AS COUNCIL MEMBER SERVING THE CITIZENS OF HUGO, MINNESOTA
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas became a Hugo resident in 1991; and
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas ran for the Hugo City Council Ward 3 office in 1998 and received 8 1 % of the
<br />votes; and
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas served on the Hugo City Council from January 1999 to May 2021; and
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas served as the liaison to the Parks Commission from March 1999-May 2003; and
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas, over the years, was appointed by Council to serve on several various committees
<br />including the Parks Project Funding Committee, Task Force for the Rice Lake Soccer Complex, Rice
<br />Lake Park Improvement Committee, Washington County Land and Water Legacy Committee,
<br />Washington County Library Committee, Hugo Water Conservation Committee, Metro Area Water
<br />Supply Advisory Committee, Irish Avenue Park Planning Committee, and as alternate member on the
<br />Firefighters Relief Association Board, to name a few, and;
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas helped establish the Hugo Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Network in 2009, and has
<br />dedicated countless hours to the military and their families, and;
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas guided the City's growth through updates to the 2008 and 2018 Comprehensive
<br />Plans; and
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas has maintained a strong commitment to helping Hugo become a sustainable city
<br />through water conservation, and;
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas worked towards improvements in the City including a new City Hall, Public
<br />Works Building, Lions Park, and numerous infrastructure projects, and;
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas assisted in the recovery and building efforts after the May 25, 2008 tornado
<br />devastated the City of Hugo with the loss of a life, destruction of property, and nearly 150 people left
<br />homeless; and
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas supported responsible and progressive financial planning and budgeting
<br />techniques that have resulted in the City's current AA+ Bond Rating; and
<br />WHEREAS, Council Member Haas has become a well -respected, trusted, compassionate and astute member of the
<br />City Council who never wavered from his primary commitment in protecting the public's health, safety
<br />and welfare; and
<br />WHEREAS, The accomplishments of Council Member Haas, while serving on the Council, are too numerous to cite;
<br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON
<br />COUNTY, MINNESOTA, that the Hugo City Council official.ly recognizes the Council Member Chuck Haas for his
<br />commitment to 22+ years of excellent public service to the citizens of Hugo and. on behalf of the entire City of Hugo,
<br />publicly thanks him for his dedication and service.
