2. Understanding and approach <br /> <br />City of Hugo, Minnesota Page | 4 <br />Recruitment approach <br />Task I. Recruitment brochure development and advertising <br />The development of a comprehensive recruitment brochure that includes a profile of the <br />ideal candidate is an important first step in your recruitment process. This profile includes <br />the required academic training, professional experience, leadership, management and <br />personal characteristics related to the success of the candidate in the position of Finance <br />Director. The recruitment brochure will also include a profile that captures the essence of <br />Hugo as a highly attractive venue for the successful candidate to live and work. <br />To prepare the recruitment brochure, the project team co-leaders will come on site to <br />meet with the City Administrator, City staff and other designated stakeholders to discuss <br />the required background, professional experience, and management and leadership <br />characteristics for your Finance Director. We meet with the City Administrator and <br />designated staff to broaden our understanding of the position’s leadership and management <br />requirements, current issues, your strategic priorities and your expectations for the position. <br />Information obtained from these meetings, coupled with our review of the job description <br />and other City documents, is used to prepare a position and candidate profile. The <br />completed profile will be approved by the City before recruitment begins. The position <br />and candidate profile will be central to our recruitment strategy and outreach to potential <br />candidates. [See example of a recruitment brochure in Appendix I.] <br />The project team will also work with the City to develop an advertising and marketing strategy <br />to notify potential candidates about the vacancy and conduct an open recruitment that <br />encourages applications from a talented and diverse pool of candidates. Our team will <br />place ads in appropriate professional publications, websites, and local print media, if <br />required, and coordinate with City staff to include information about the search on the <br />City’s social media platforms. Additionally, Baker Tilly has a high-traffic website which <br />includes an exclusive location dedicated to encouraging potential candidates to upload <br />their resumes. The aggressive advertising and marketing campaign for top talent will <br />include national, state, regional and local elements as determined during our initial <br />meetings with Hugo’s representatives.
