<br />CITY OF HUGO <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Toastmasters International, the world’s leading organization <br />devoted to communication, public speaking and leadership skills, provides a mutually- <br />supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the <br />opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills which, in turn, fosters <br />self-confidence and personal growth; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Toastmasters, founded October 1924, has over 300,000 members in <br />149 countries, with over 15,800 clubs worldwide; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Toastmasters clubs are made up of 20-30 people who gather weekly <br />to follow an agenda of prepared speeches, impromptu speeches and evaluations as <br />members learn through practice, by listening to one another, and by studying <br />educational manuals from Toastmasters International which offer guidelines for <br />speeches, and the monthly Toastmaster magazine is an excellent source to gain everyday <br />speaking tips – for both personal and professional use. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Toastmasters has helped over 4 million since 1924. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Tom Weidt, Mayor of the City of Hugo, in recognition <br />of this important observance, do hereby proclaim October as: <br /> <br />“TOASTMASTERS MONTH” <br /> <br />in the City of Hugo and urge all citizens to join me in congratulating Toastmasters for the <br />inspiring role they play in assisting individuals develop self-confidence and <br />communication skills, which enhance all aspects of their lives. <br /> <br /> <br />On this 4th day of October, 2021 <br /> <br /> <br /> _____________________________________ <br /> Tom Weidt, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />___________________________________ <br />Michele Lindau, City Clerk
