PLANNING COMMISSION UPDATE: <br /> <br />At its September 23, 2021, meeting the Planning Commission held a public hearing and <br />considered the request. Staff recommended approval of the interim use permit (IUP) for <br />farmhand living quarters. The applicant’s representative spoke during the public hearing and <br />described the operations of the dairy farm. The Planning Commission agreed the application met <br />the requirements necessary to approve the IUP. The Planning Commission unanimously <br />recommended approval of the IUP for farmhand living quarters to the City Council. <br /> <br />2. DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: <br /> <br />The applicant is requesting approval of an interim use permit (IUP) for farmhand living quarters <br />to be allowed on the property. On properties 20 acres or more in size, located in the future urban <br />service, rural residential, agricultural, and long term agricultural districts a second dwelling shall <br />be allowed for living quarters for a farmhand. The property is approximately 38 acres in size and <br />is being used for a dairy farm operation. The dairy farm is operated by the applicants with their <br />son’s and their families. The applicants would like to build farmhand living quarters as a second <br />dwelling on the property to open up the existing farm house to their son and his family. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
