Thank you Chief Kevin
Colvard, you will be
greatly missed!
W.
I 1`
v
rv
N&O
Chief Kevin Colvard served for 20 years on the
Hugo Fire and Rescue team; the last 8 years as our
Chief. To say that Kevin was involved in the fire depart-
ment is an understatement. There is not one thing at
c;
HFD that Kevin hasn't been an integral part of.
As we say goodbye to Chief Colvard we know he has
left the department in good hands with Chief Jim
Compton Jr. The City of Hugo continues to grow
and Chief Compton will continue the tradition of
excellent leadership as the department evolves to serve
our community.
Chief Compton is a fourth -generation community
servant. His father, Jim Compton Sr., was also a long-
time Hugo Fire Department member and former Chief.
Chief Jim Compton Jr. has been a member of the Hugo
Fire Department since 2001 serving as a Lieutenant,
Captain, Deputy Chief and now the Chief.
With Chief Compton's promotion, Assistant Chief
Dave Jensen was promoted to Deputy Chief.
Deputy Chief Jensen has been on the department
since 2007 serving as an Emergency Services Planner,
Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, and now Deputy Chief.
Smoke/CO Detectors
Please be mindful to change your smoke and carbon
monoxide detector batteries. A good way to remember
this is to check your expiration dates and batteries every
time you change your clocks for daylight savings!.
Please remember that detectors have a shelf life
of eight to ten years and NEED to be replaced.
t
(Top and bottom photos, left to right)
Chief Jim Compton Jr., retired Chief Kevin Colvard, and Deputy Chief Dave Jensen
