BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2021 <br /> <br />D.1 Minutes for October 19, 2020 Council Meeting <br /> <br />G.1 Approve Claims Roster <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented. <br /> <br />G.2 Approve Annual Performance Review for Public Works Worker Kraig Pettee <br /> <br />Kraig Pettee was hired as a Public Works Worker starting November 12, 2018. Kraig had <br />worked the three previous summers as a seasonal worker. Public Works Director Scott <br />Anderson recommends Council approve the annual performance review of Public Works Worker <br />Kraig Pettee. <br /> <br />G.3 Approve Donation to the Hugo Fire Department from the Hugo American Legion <br /> <br />The Hugo American Legion would like to donate $1,000 from gambling proceeds to the Hugo <br />Fire Department for training and equipment. Donations to the Fire Department need to be <br />approved by Council. Staff recommends Council approve this donation. <br /> <br />G.4 Approve Vacancies on the Historical Commission <br /> <br />There are currently two vacancies on the Historical Commission. Longtime Commission <br />member Trina Oswald passed away on October 12, 2021. She was appointed to the Commission <br />on October 2, 2006, and had been a very active member. On February 1, 2021, Council approved <br />the appointment of Jason Arcand to the Historical Commission. Jason recently resigned due to <br />lack of time. Staff recommends Council approve the vacancies on the Historical Commission <br />and advertisement for replacements. <br /> <br />G.5 Approve Resignation of Bob Bieniek as Hugo Fire Department Safety Captain <br /> <br />Hugo Fire Department Safety Captain Bob Bieniek informed Fire Chief Jim Compton he wished <br />to resign as the Safety Captain and remain a regular fire fighter. Fire Chief Compton <br />recommends Council approved the resignation as Safety Captain effective December 1, 2021. <br /> <br />G.6 Approve Brian Esch and Ryan Nadeau as Engineers on the Hugo Fire Department <br /> <br />On October 26, 2021, the Fire Department interviewed three firefighters for the open engineer <br />positions that were vacated by Ron Gray and Roly Guareschi and selected Brian Esch and Ryan <br />Nadeau to fill the open positions. Fire Chief Jim Compton recommends Council approve the <br />appointment of Esch and Nadeau as engineers on the Fire Department effective November 1, <br />2021. <br /> <br />
