City of Hugo <br />Park Memorial Policy <br />Purpose: The City of Hugo supports the needs and principles of allowing memorials in <br />parks and green space areas, but is also mindful that these facilities have many <br />uses and are enjoyed by a wide range of people. Therefore, the City desires to <br />manage and regulate memorials for the mutual benefit of all. It is the <br />intention that the Park Memorial Policy only covers the broad sense of <br />memorials and is not meant to be exhaustive. Memorial proposals outside the <br />scope of this policy may still be considered. <br />I. The City may accept donations to the park infrastructure <br />system for memorials and acknowledge contributors <br />A. Contributors guidelines <br />1. Donations will be accepted from family members, residents <br />and civic groups. <br />2. All memorials are to be paid for by the applicant prior to <br />installation. <br />3. Memorials will be positioned to maximize the benefit to an <br />area. <br />4. The City accepts no liability for damage to any memorials <br />from vandals, third parties or while carrying out maintenance <br />activities. <br />5. The City reserves the right to remove any memorials that <br />have been damaged or are, at the sole discretion of the City, <br />beyond repair. <br />6. Applications for memorials to pets shall not be accepted. <br />II. Acceptable donations to City Parks for memorials shall consist <br />of: <br />A. Tree with plaque* <br />1. Tree Species shall be chosen by Parks Commission to be <br />consistent with overall landscaping plan of park. <br />2. Tree location shall be approved by the Parks Commission. <br />
