BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />The existing Hugo Public Works facility is located at 6900 137th Street North and was <br />constructed in 2004. The Public Works department has since outgrown the existing facility and <br />after completing a facility needs study in 2019, determined that it was time to expand in order to <br />continue to maintain the City’s growing infrastructure needs. The City considered expanding the <br />existing PW facility, however, determined that it was more cost effective and advantageous to <br />build a new PW facility that could accommodate for the projected growth of Hugo. The new PW <br />facility is located on the south side of Irish Avenue Park at 8220 140th Street North. Construction <br />is expected to be complete in March 2022 and the PW department will be relocating from the <br />existing facility to the new facility at that time. <br /> <br />The City of Hugo will no longer need the facility located at 6900 137th Street North and has been <br />working with the White Bear Lake Area School District (ISD #624) on a purchase agreement to <br />convey the existing PW facility and the 10-acre lot to the WBL School District. The WBL <br />School District would like to purchase the property to use as their maintenance facility. The
