<br />Page | 1 <br />Hardwood Creek Regional Trail Feasibility Study – 130th Street to 120th Street <br />Public Engagement Summary <br />Purpose <br />As part of the feasibility study to determine an alternate route for the Hardwood Creek Regional Trail <br />(HWCRT) between 130th and 120th Streets in the City of Hugo, Washington County undertook a public <br />engagement effort to inform local residents and business owners about the study and collect feedback <br />on design options. This document is written to summarize the methods and techniques used in this <br />engagement effort and the feedback received from the public. <br />Promotion of Engagement Opportunities <br />The County used a postcard mailing to adjacent residents to promote an online engagement event <br />described in the section below. A copy of this postcard in included in Appendix A. <br />Online Engagement Format <br />The online engagement event was hosted on a dedicated website created using Adobe Spark software: <br />https://arcg.is/1WXOi90. A link to the website using a QR code was included on the mailed postcard. <br />The content of the engagement event included: <br />· A summary of the overall HWCRT corridor and previous Master Planning efforts <br />· Map of the project area and highlights of key project goals <br />· Layouts for the two design concepts under consideration <br />· Frequently asked questions <br />· A comment field for specific feedback or selection of a preferred design concept <br />Public Response to the Online Engagement Event <br />According to County staff, the online engagement had 170 views for the 12-day period, with 5 users <br />leaving specific comments. The comments received are included in Appendix B. <br />Online Engagement Results <br />The comments received through the online engagement event had mixed results. Three respondents <br />expressed a preference for a 10-foot-wide trail, while one other indicated that an 8-foot trail is <br />sufficient. All five respondents expressed support for the addition of a trail along the proposed route. <br />Other Feedback <br />The online engagement event also provided the option to submit a comment directly to the County <br />Project Manager. The comment received through this method is also included in Appendix B. <br />
