<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />14669 Fitzgerald Avenue North, Hugo, MN 55038   • (651) 762‐6300  •   www.ci.hugo.mn.us  <br />   <br />  <br />  <br />  <br />TO: Honorable Mayor Tom Weidt and Members of the City Council  <br />FROM: David Jensen, Deputy Fire Chief  <br />SUBJECT: Approve purchase of 2023 Ford F350 Super Duty  <br />DATE: For the City Council Meeting of November 7 2022  <br />  <br />  <br />DESIRED COUNCIL ACTION <br />  <br />Adoption of Consent Agenda Including Authorization for vehicle purchase.   <br />  <br />BACKGROUND <br />  <br />Included in the City’s 2023 budget is funding for the purchase of a new Brush Truck for the Fire Department. This will  <br />replace a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, which at one time was deferred for replacement back in 2017. Within the current Fire  <br />Department Capital Improvement Plan, gas engines that are stored inside the station are scheduled to be replaced at 20  <br />years of age. This truck is now being requested due to the deteriorating condition of the Jeep.   <br />  <br />The vehicle being purchased is a 2023 Ford F350 Super Duty. The estimated cost for the purchase of this vehicle is  <br />$54,535.16 Additional costs will be need to mount a water tank and pump to the truck to place the vehicle into service.  <br />Those costs are budgeted in the Capital Improvement Plan and are expected.   <br />  <br />Due to the current market conditions and shortage of parts worldwide, we have been advised by Midway Ford that this  <br />vehicle could take 6 to 8 months, or even longer to receive after order. Therefore we are requesting approval now in  <br />order to ensure we can receive the vehicle in a timely manner in 2023.   <br />  <br />The cost of this vehicle is as expected and staff has budgeted in the capital improvement plan appropriately for the  <br />replacement.  <br />  <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />  <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the ordering of a 2023 Ford F350 Super Duty from Midway Ford  <br />Commercial Fleet and Government Sales.   <br />  <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />  <br />Price quote from Midway Ford  <br />
