This consists of the creation of a Public Works Supervisor position and 3 Lead Worker positions. The benefits of restructuring allows for the assignment of specific responsibilities to Lead Workers, provides better direction to crews in the field, allows for better focus on department goals and helps provide the highest level of service to the community. The proposed Public Works Department Organizational chart and job descriptions, attached, were prepared with the suggestions recommended by the council at the workshop. If they are approved by the Council, it is my intent to select an internal candidate for the PW Supervisor position and make a recommendation to the Council for formal approval. Interviews for the Lead Worker positions would then be held with interested in-house candidates and recommendations for formal Council approval would follow. Staff recommends Council approval of the attached Public Works Organizational chart and job descriptions and authorize staff to conduct interviews with in-house candidates who are interested.
