Page | 2 <br /> <br /> <br />• Assists with the duties of Lead Worker positions when needed. <br />• Enforces safety rules and procedures as outlined in the employee safety manual, <br />OSHA rules and other applicable regulations. <br /> Public Works Operations <br />• Participates in discussions and makes recommendations related to the City’s roadway <br />CIP, utility infrastructure and parks infrastructure. <br />• Assists in the preparation of the Public Works Department annual budget <br />• Assists Director with purchasing responsibilities by researching product information <br />and making comparisons based on price, quality and specifications. <br />• Evaluates equipment and material needs and makes recommendations for purchases. <br />• Monitors expenses and makes adjustments accordingly throughout the year. <br />• Assesses gravel road conditions, determines maintenance needs, and coordinates/ <br />supervises all gravel road maintenance activities. <br />• Assesses road conditions and determines snow plowing and/or ice control operations. <br />• Assist the Public Works Director with hiring full-time Public Works Department staff. <br />• Coordinates with assistance from Lead Workers the hiring of seasonal Public Works <br />Department staff. <br />• Responds professionally to inquiries and complaints from members of the public. <br />• Performs all of the essential functions of a Public Works Worker as needed. <br />Other Duties and Responsibilities <br />• Performs other duties as assigned. <br />Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br /> Knowledge of: <br />• City streets/geography, commercial/residential areas, and snow plowing routes. <br />• Relevant City policies and ordinances. <br />• Practices, procedures, tools and equipment, and materials used in the maintenance <br />and repair of public works infrastructure. <br />• DOT traffic control procedures. <br />• Utility locates. <br />• City infrastructure and ability to understand/use City maps and blueprints to locate <br />items. <br />• Municipal sewer and water systems. <br />• OSHA rules/standards and DOT regulations and ability to apply to daily tasks. <br />• City building codes and ordinances and traffic laws. <br />• City safety policies and procedures and ability to apply them to daily tasks. <br />• Street construction and maintenance practices such as crack sealing, patching and seal <br />coating. <br />
