Page | 2 <br /> <br /> <br />• Assists the Public Works Supervisor in developing work schedules. <br />• Provides recommendations to the Public Works supervisor for the hiring of seasonal <br />employees. <br />• Works with outside contractors and oversees and directs their work. <br />• Dispatches employees during Public Works emergencies as needed. <br />• Performs all the essential functions of a Public Works Worker. <br />• Enforces safety rules and procedures as outlined in the employee safety manual, <br />OSHA rules and other applicable regulations. <br />• Works with City staff to develop short and long term roadway infrastructure goals. <br />• Participates in discussions related to the City’s pavement rating system a roadway <br />CIP. <br />• Makes recommendations for the preparation of budget items related to the City’s <br />roadway infrastructure, including tools and equipment. <br />• Assists with purchasing responsibilities by researching product information, making <br />comparisons based on price, quality and specifications, and making <br />recommendations. <br />• Ensures proper maintenance and repairs of tools and equipment used to maintain the <br />City’s roadway infrastructure. <br />• Perform and document safety inspections on public works equipment and municipal <br />facilities. <br />Other Duties and Responsibilities <br />• Assists with the duties of other lead positions when needed. <br />• Responds to questions and concerns from residents and handles other customer service <br />situations as directed. <br />• Promotes workplace safety at all times. <br />• Attends meetings and gathers information to stay current on trends concerning street <br />maintenance practices. <br />• Performs other duties as assigned <br />Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br /> Knowledge of: <br />• City streets and geography, commercial and residential areas, and snow plowing <br />routes. <br />• Practices, procedures, tools and equipment, and materials used to maintain and repair <br />public works infrastructure. <br />• DOT traffic control procedures. <br />• Utility locates. <br />• City infrastructure. <br />• Municipal water systems. <br />• OSHA rules/standards and DOT regulations. <br />• City building codes and ordinances and traffic laws.
