BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON JULY 10, 2023 <br /> <br />D.1 Approve of Minutes for the June 12, 2022, City Administrator Review <br />D.2 Approve of Minutes for the June 12, 2022, City Council Meeting <br />D.3 Approve of Minutes for the June 13, 2023, Premier Bank Ground Breaking <br />D.4 Approve of Minutes for the June 23, 2023, Torch Run for Special Olympics <br />D.5 Approve of Minutes for the June 27, 2023, Bernin Park Neighborhood Meeting <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the above minutes as presented. <br /> <br />G. 1 Approve of Claims <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented. <br /> <br />G.2 Approve Performance Review for Building Inspector Terry Hagstrom <br /> <br />Terry Hagstrom was hired on July 12, 2021, as a new Building Inspector. Building Official Joel <br />Hoistad recommends Council approve the annual performance review for Building Inspector <br />Terry Hagstrom. <br /> <br />G.3 Approve Retirement of Kevin Kriegshauser from the Hugo Fire Department <br /> <br />In May of 2010, Kevin Kriegshauser was hired as a firefighter on the Hugo Fire Department. <br />Kevin has relocated outside of the City of Hugo and submitted his notice of retirement from the <br />department. Staff recommends Council approve the retirement of Kevin Kriegshauser from the <br />Hugo Fire Department. <br /> <br />G.4. Approve Mid-Year Performance Review for Public Works Worker Neal Nelson <br /> <br />In 2017, after two years as a summer seasonal employee, Neal Nelson was hired by the City as a <br />full time employee under our Public Works apprentice program. This program allows the City to <br />hire individuals who are interested in entering the public works field with minimal experience. <br />The City trains these individuals to be a valuable part of the Public Works Department. Mr. <br />Nelson successfully completed the apprenticeship program in 2020 and was moved to the status <br />of regular full-time employee. The Public Works Director is requesting Council approval to <br />advance him to step 5 of pay grade 5 now which would make him eligible for the maximum at <br />the end of the year. The mid-year step adjustment has been discussed with the Finance <br />Department and they feel that the current budget can accommodate the requested salary increase. <br />Staff recommends Council approve the mid-year performance review and step increase for <br />Public Works Worker Neal Nelson. <br /> <br />G.5 Approve Donation to the Hugo Fire Department from St. John the Baptist Men’s Club <br /> <br />Th St. John the Baptist Men’s Club would like to donate $500 to the Hugo Fire Department. <br />Donations to the Fire Department must be approved by Council. Staff recommends Council <br />approve the $500 donation. <br /> <br />G.6 Approve Transfer of Ownership Agreement of AEDs to the City of Hugo from <br />Washington County
