Council Meeting Minutes for January 8, 2024 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />Approve Variance and Minor Subdivision for Larry and Luanne Hanson – 14565 Irish <br />Avenue North <br />Larry and Louann Hanson had applied for a minor subdivision to create two lots out of a 20-acre <br />parcel into two parcels, each 10 acres in size. The applicants also applied for a variance from the <br />minimum lot width requirement to have the created lot to the south be 226 feet wide, where a lot <br />width of 300 feet was required by ordinance. At its December 14, 2023, meeting the Planning <br />Commission held a public hearing and agreed the requests met the requirements necessary to <br />approve the minor subdivision and variance and unanimously recommends Council approve the <br />resolutions approving the variance and minor subdivision. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />approved RESOLUTION 2024-1 APPROVING A VARIANCE FROM THE MINIMUM LOT <br />WIDTH REQUIREMENT FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 14565 IRISH AVENUE NORTH, <br />and RESOLUTION 2024-02 APPROVING A MINOR SUBDIVISION FOR LARRY AND <br />LOUANN HANSON FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 14565 IRISH AVENUE NORTH. <br />Approve Purchase of Brush Unit for the Hugo Fire Department Brush Truck <br />Staff added this item to the Consent Agenda for approval. At its November 7, 2022, meeting, <br />Council approved the purchase of a new brush truck. With over a year delay, the 2024 F350 was <br />recently delivered to the Hugo Fire Department. Included in the City of Hugo’s CIP was a <br />budget to make this F350 operational as a brush fire truck, which included a 200-gallon skid unit. <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the purchase of a K3 UHP 200 gallon skid unit from <br />Great Plain’s Fire in the amount of $39,236.00. <br />Discussion on 2024 Road Project (125th Street and Dellwood Ridge) <br />At the December 18, 2023, meeting, Council had discussed the 2024 road project which included a <br />portion of 125th Street and the streets in Dellwood Ridge. Specifically discussed was the proposed <br />road width and curb type in Dellwood Ridge. City Engineer Mark Erichson provided background <br />saying there had been questions and concerns regarding street and curb type. Staff had received <br />feedback from a neighbor representative who had spoken to residents of the neighborhood and <br />reported they were comfortable with 28’ width street and surmountable curb. <br />Weidt said he also spoke to some of the residents, and he felt they were in a position to move <br />forward. <br />Weidt made motion, Miron seconded, to direct staff to move forward with design and preparations <br />for the project with a 28’ wide road and surmountable curb. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Council Goal Setting Session on Monday, January 22, 2024 (Time change) <br />Council had scheduled their Annual Goal Setting Session for Monday, January 22, 2024, at 5 p.m. in <br />the Council Chambers. Due to time conflicts, staff recommended changing the time from 5 p.m. to 6 <br />p.m.
