MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF DECEMBER 19, 2023 <br /> <br />Commissioner Klein, acting President, called the meeting to order at 5:31pm. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Arcand, Chrun, Denaway, Klein, Puleo <br />ABSENT: Weidt <br />STAFF: Rachel Juba, Community Development Director <br />Max Gort, Associate Planner <br />Bryan Bear, City Administrator <br /> <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF NOVEMBER 21, 2023 <br /> <br />Commissioner Chrun made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Puleo, to approve the November <br />21, 2023 EDA meeting minutes. <br />Ayes: All. <br />Nay: None. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />2024 Goal Setting <br /> <br />Gort presented the 2023 Annual Building Report, which provided the EDA with information on the <br />trends relating to planning and building activity specific to 2023, as well as over the past 10 years. <br />Gort also gave an update on some of the topics discussed at the Planning Commission’s goal setting <br />workshop, including cannabis, apartments, commercial and industrial design guidelines, and single- <br />family residential requirements. <br /> <br />Gort presented the EDA with the goals they had set for 2023. The EDA moved through each of the <br />goals by category as follows: <br /> <br />Development and Downtown Redevelopment <br /> <br />Commissioner Arcand suggested that the wording of “stay informed of the Highway 61 Visioning <br />Study with Washington County” should be changed to read as “stay engaged with…” <br /> <br />Commissioner Puleo asked whether small area planning around the area of 165th Street and Highway <br />61 will come. After some discussion the EDA determined that the outcome of the Highway 61 <br />Visioning Study will have a wider implication on future land use in the area. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klein said that the Highway 61 Visioning Study outcome will be a blueprint for the <br />redevelopment and beautification of properties downtown. <br /> <br />Commissioner Denaway points to the city-owned property on Egg Lake, and suggests adding a goal of <br />determining how to use City owned property. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
