MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF DECEMBER 21, 2021 <br /> <br />Chair Weidt called the meeting to order at 5:29 pm. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Chrun, Denaway, Gallivan, Klein, Puleo, Roberts, Weidt. <br />ABSENT: Arcand. <br /> <br />STAFF: Bryan Bear, City Administrator <br />Rachel Juba, Community Development Director <br />Emily Weber, Community Development Assistant <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF NOVEMBER 16, 2021 <br /> <br />Commissioner Roberts made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Klein, to approve the November <br />16, 2021 EDA meeting minutes. <br />Ayes: All. <br />Nay: None. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />2021 EDA REVIEW <br />Staff provided the EDA with an update of economic development throughout the city during 2021. <br />The review included the new White Bear Lake Area School District’s elementary school located in <br />Hugo. Access to the school will be created by construction of an intersection at 152nd Street North <br />and Highway 61. Other projects were the Eagles Landing development in the Bald Eagle Industrial <br />Park and an additional Schwieters building for their campus development on the corner of Fenway <br />Boulevard North and 140th Street North. Staff highlighted the city project of 2021 that included the <br />new public works building on the south side of Irish Avenue Park and the reconstruction of Lions Park. <br />Looking forward to 2022, the EDA can expect to see preliminary plat and PUD applications for the <br />property along Egg Lake that is known as Downtown Hugo. <br />2022 GOAL SETTING <br />Staff provided a review of the 2021 EDA goals and facilitated the discussion on 2022 goals for the <br />group. The EDA discussed small area planning on 165th Street N and Highway 61 and the benefit of <br />Highway 61 visioning. Additional discussion included infrastructure improvements and development <br />opportunities that would extend city sewer and water services to non-services areas. The group also <br />talked about various grants that are offered at the county and state level. The EDA also emphasized <br />the importance of maintaining relationships with property owners and local businesses. <br />Staff will provide the updated goals for approval at the next meeting. <br />UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN <br />Staff provided an update on downtown redevelopment. <br /> <br /> <br />
