<br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Parks Commission Minutes <br />February 16, 2022 <br />Minutes <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br /> <br />Meeting of February 16, 2021 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br /> <br />Present: Roger Clarke, Mat Rauschendorfer, Nicole Schmid, Meredith St. Pierre, Ranell Tennyson. <br />Absent: Cathy Moore-Arcand, Emily McGinnity <br /> <br />Staff Present: Shayla Denaway, Parks Planner <br />Debi Close, Parks Secretary <br />Staff Absent: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director <br /> <br />Clarke called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br /> <br /> <br />1. Approval of Minutes from the January 19, 2022 Meeting <br /> <br />Tennyson made a motion, St. Pierre seconded to approve the minutes of the January 19, 2022 Parks <br />Commission meeting. <br /> <br />All aye. <br /> <br />Motion approved. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Val Jean Park Grading <br /> <br />Shayla Denaway, Parks Planner reviewed the Val Jean Park grading project that was included in the <br />Parks CIP and goals in 2022. The project includes grading the park to better incorporate a temporary <br />portable ice rink. <br /> <br />Commissioner Schmid expressed concern over maintaining drainage at the park. <br /> <br />Staff requested direction on getting quotes or hosting a neighborhood meeting first. Commission <br />members directed staff to get estimates on the cost and type of work needed for the project. <br /> <br /> <br />3. Bernin Property History <br /> <br />Denaway presented the history of the Bernin property located at 6540 Greene Avenue North. The <br />24.24-acre property includes 1,600’ of shoreline on Oneka Lake. It is also adjacent to the Oneka Lake <br />Park which has a playground and park shelter. The property was acquired in 2002 for $752,000 and
