Page 2 of 3 <br />Parks Commission Agenda <br />January 18, 2023 <br /> <br />Background <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br />Meeting of January 19, 2023 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br /> <br />Approve Minutes from October 19, 2022 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of October 19, 2022. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MINUTES. <br /> <br />Oaths of Office <br />The City Council interviewed candidates for several Commission vacancies. At their meeting of November 21, <br />2022, Valerie Boyd has was appointed to the Parks Commission and Jim Compton Sr. was appointed as an <br />Alternate Parks Commissioner. They will be asked to read the Oath of Office. <br />OATHS ARE ATTACHED. <br /> <br />Discussion on Program Partnerships <br />Staff receives inquiries from various individuals and businesses with an interest in holding programs, classes, <br />speakers, etc. These programs are sometimes free for participants or for profit. With Lions Volunteer Park <br />and the new pavilion now open, staff is anticipating an increase in requests. City partnership could include <br />offering community rooms for free, advertising, or use of other city resources. The Commission should <br />discuss and provide informal direction to staff as to how to address these requests. <br /> <br />Sledding Party <br />Staff recommends that the date of the annual Sledding Party be set for Saturday, February 11. It would be <br />held 10am-noon. <br /> <br />2022 Annual Report <br />Staff will present the 2022 Annual Report of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED REPORT. <br /> <br />2023 Goal Setting <br />Staff recommends that the Parks Commission draft goals for 2023 to be recommended to the City Council. <br />The five goals remained the same, but staff updated the bulleted action items as a starting point for <br />Commission discussions. <br />A DRAFT OF THE 2023 GOALS ARE ATTACHED. <br /> <br /> <br />2023 Capital Improvement Plan <br />A draft of the 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan has been put together with the assistance of Finance <br />Director, Anna Wobse. The Parks Commission has been given the authority to make recommendations to the
