<br /> <br />Job Description <br /> <br />Position Title: Engineer <br />Department: Fire Department <br />Reports to: Chief Engineer <br />Pay Grade: Part Time/Paid On-Call <br />Salary: Per City Salary Resolution <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Purpose <br />Perform duties essential to the Fire Department. <br /> <br />Organizational Relationships <br />Communicates with: Fire Department personnel. <br />Supervises: None <br />Receives work assignments from: Fire Chief, Chief Engineer, and other <br />department officers. <br /> <br />Essential Duties/Responsibilities <br />The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed <br />as exclusive or all inclusive; other duties may be required or assigned. <br /> <br /> <br />Essential Functions <br /> Performs all essential and other functions of Firefighter position. <br /> Drives and operates all apparatus safely. <br /> Demonstrates knowledge in all aspects of pumping, drafting and apparatus <br />operations. <br /> Verifies all vehicles and equipment are in good working order and safe. <br /> Keeps records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs. <br /> Maintains inventory or equipment and supplies pertinent to fire and rescue <br />apparatus and equipment. <br /> Acts as the representative of the department at community events. <br /> Demonstrates considerable knowledge of city streets, geography, hydrant areas <br />and local water source locations. <br /> Provides a positive attitude in the performance of duties. <br /> <br /> <br />Other Functions <br /> Instructs other firefighters in the proper use of all apparatus and equipment. <br /> Completes repairs to apparatus as assigned. <br /> Recommends changes that would benefit the operation at the station and/or <br />emergency response. <br /> Attends required meetings that are over and above those required of a firefighter. <br /> Participates in training drill demonstrations, courses in hydraulics, pump <br />operation, pump maintenance, and firefighting techniques training. <br /> Attends additional work drills and pump drills when necessary. <br /> Provides a positive attitude in the performance of duties.
