HUGO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING UPDATE: At its May 9, 2024, meeting the Hugo Planning Commission held a public hearing and considered the request. There were several people at the meeting that spoke during the public hearing. The applicant addressed the Planning Commission at the meeting and discussed the building addition plans and improvements on the property. They noted that the school preK-12 is very small compared the surrounding school district. They stated they have goals for an additional building and facilities to accommodate preK – 12th grade, but are only asking approval for the building addition. They also stated they wanted to be good neighbors with the surrounding properties. There were several people that spoke about various concerns with the school. Most of the speakers stated they liked that it is a school, but even though they are only asking for a building addition they did not want it to be a larger school campus with preK-12. They stated that type of school does not fit in with the area. They felt the site was designed for their goal to have preK - 12th grade at the site with additional facilities.
