Attention all City Administrators, please pass this opportunity on to your elected officials.

RE: Emergency & Disaster Training Opportunity for Elected
Officials

Hello all,

Washington County Emergency Management staff are working on the next iteration of Disaster
Roles and Responsibilities training for elected officials. This training course was last offered in
2017 and was very well received. I am pleased to report that our previous instructor, Ret. MN
Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Joe Kelly, has agreed to once again
teach this important course to our elected officials.

The course is approximately 2.5hrs and will focus on the specific roles and responsibilities of
city/township elected officials should a disaster occur in their community. This will be an
excellent opportunity to learn about emergency declarations, additional resource requests,
financial consequences (e.g. FEMA reimbursement thresholds), and much more.

* This opportunity is also open to city administrators.

Please forward to all your council members, mayors, and township supervisors for
their consideration

We are offering three calendar options for the Elected Official Roles and Responsibilities
training. Each course will be held from 6pm – 8:30pm at the Government Center Lower Level
Conference Room, 14949 62nd St. N. in Stillwater.

• Dates
o December 18, 2024 (Wednesday)
o January 9, 2025 (Thursday)
o February 18, 2025 (Tuesday)
• Location
o Washington County Government Center, 14949 62nd St. N., Stillwater
• Time
o 6pm – 8:30pm
• Register
o Select your training date by clicking on the registration
link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F4EACA82CA3FF2-52693901-disaster
