Council Meeting Minutes for May 5, 2025 <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br />Approve Resignation of Public Works Worker Miquel Souffrant <br /> <br />Public Works Worker Miquel Souffrant had accepted a job offer elsewhere and submitted his <br />resignation from the City of Hugo’s Public Works Department. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />approved the resignation of Miquel Souffrant effective April 29, 2025. <br /> <br />Approve Advertisement for Public Works Worker <br /> <br />The resignation of Miquel Souffrant had created a vacancy in the Public Works Department. <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the advertisement for a new Public Works Worker. <br /> <br />Approve Advertisement for New Building Inspector <br /> <br />As part of the Community Development Department, the Building Department included a <br />Building Official, Building Inspector, and Building Department Receptionist. There was another <br />Building Inspector position in the budget. With the retirement of Terry Hagstrom and the steady <br />number of building permits and inspections remaining, staff recommend Council approve filling <br />the remaining Building Inspector position. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved <br />advertisement for a new Building Inspector position. <br /> <br />Approve Donation to the Hugo Fire Department from the Hugo America Legion <br /> <br />The Hugo American Legion requested the Council accept their donation of $1,000 to the Hugo <br />Fire Department from pull-tab proceeds for equipment and training. All donations to the Fire <br />Department needed to be approved by the Council. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved <br />the donation of $1,000 to the Hugo Fire Department. <br /> <br />Approve Donation to the Hugo Fire Department from Terry and Carol-Lynn Spawn in <br />Memory of Harley Ogata <br /> <br />Terry and Carol-Lynn Spawn requested Council accept their donation of $100 to the Hugo to the <br />Hugo Fire Department in memory of Harley Ogata. All donations to the Fire Department needed <br />to be approved by the Council. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the donation of $100 <br />to the Hugo Fire Department. <br /> <br />Approve Special Event Permit for New Life Church Spring Outdoor Service on June 8 and <br />Fall Festival on October 26, 2025 <br /> <br />David Streitz on behalf of New Life Church had applied for a Special Event Permit to hold <br />outdoor events on Sunday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, October 26 from 2 p.m. to <br />5:30 p.m. A Special Event Permit was required because they would be using an amplified sound <br />system during the events. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the Special Event Permit <br />for New Life Church for outdoor events on June 8 and October 26, 2025. <br /> <br /> <br />
