<br /> <br />Job Description <br /> <br />Position Title: Lieutenant <br />Department: Fire Department <br />Reports to: Captain <br />Pay Grade: Part Time/Paid On-Call <br />Salary: Per City Salary Resolution <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Purpose <br />Perform duties essential to the fire department. <br /> <br />Organizational Relationships <br />Communicate with: Fire department personnel, and other city staff. <br />Supervise: Firefighters <br />Receives work assignments from: Captains or Chief Officers <br /> <br />Essential Duties / Responsibilities <br />The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed <br />as exclusive or all inclusive; other duties may be required or assigned. <br /> <br />Essential Functions <br />• All essential and other functions of a Firefighter position. <br />• Direct a piece of apparatus and the crew that is assigned to that apparatus . <br />• Assure that all equipment under their direction is operated in a safe manner . <br />• Drive and operate firefighting vehicles and equipment if needed. <br />• Act as incident commander in the absence of Chief Officers or Captains. <br />• Act as a line officer on a fire scene. <br />• Act as a drill team leader. <br />• Act as a representative of the department at community events. <br />• Assist Chief Engineer, Fire Marshal, Captains, or Chief Officers with assigned <br />administrative tasks or projects. <br />• Provide a positive attitude in the performance of duties. <br /> <br />Other Functions <br />• Direct maintenance and cleaning of station and equipment. <br />• Recommend changes in department policies and/or procedures. <br />• Recommend changes that would benefit the operation of the station and <br />emergency response. <br />• Attend required meetings that are over and above those required of a firefighter . <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br />• All Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of Firefighter position . <br />• Ability to direct a crew in firefighting, EMS, or other citizen assistance . <br />• Ability and willingness to enroll in educational opportunities that are approved by <br />the Fire Chief. <br /> <br /> <br />Education and/or Certifications required within 2 years of Promotion <br />• All Education and/or certifications for Firefighter position.
