RESOLUTION 2015-2 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A REVISED SPEED LIMIT ON PORTIONOS OF 125TH STREET AND FIONA AVENUE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Hugo, Minnesota is authorized to establish speed limits in accordance with law; and, WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute Chapter 169 provides for statutory speed limits of 55 m.p.h. on city streets unless certain criteria is met; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 169.14, subd. 5b, a city may determine that a street meets specific criteria to be identified as a "rural residential district;" and, WHEREAS, the City has applied the standards as contained in Minn. Stat. § 169.14, subd. 5b to 125th Street from Trunk Highway 61 East to Fiona Avenue and Fiona Avenue from 120TH Street to 125TJ Street in the City of Hugo and have determined that structures along these roads are at intervals of three hundred feet or less for multiple one-quarter mile sections; and, WHEREAS, based on this criteria, the City Council has the authority to declare 125th Street from Trunk Highway 61 East to Fiona Avenue and Fiona Avenue from 120th Street to 125"' Street as a "rural residential district;" and, WHEREAS, based on this designation, the City Council has the authority to set the speed limit in this "rural residential district" and is desirous of establishing a new speed limit of 35 m.p.h. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, MINNESOTA: 1. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Chapter 169.14, 125th Street from Trunk Highway 61 East to Fiona Avenue and Fiona Avenue from 120th Street to 125th Street is a "rural residential district."
