14669 Fitzgerald Avenue North, Hugo, MN 55038 • (651) 762-6300 • www.ci.hugo.mn.us

March 6, 2026

To whom it may concern,

The City of Hugo Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission is requesting proposals for playground
equipment to be installed at Frog Hollow Park located at 5495 159th St N. There will be a neighborhood
meeting to review all proposals at the Parks Commission meeting of Wednesday, May 20 at 6:00pm at
the Peder Peders en Pavilion. It is requested that you present your design (s) for public comment.

The Parks Commission requests that the playground design maximize the amount of equipment and play
features while maintaining the current playground footprint. The existing concrete curb will not be replaced
or changed. The proposal should take into consideration the highly visible neighborhood location of the
playground with an aesthetically interesting design and color scheme. The Commission’s priority is having a
primary structure that is large in scale rather than independent play or other stand-alone features. A
separate structure for 2–5-year-olds is not preferred.

The proposal estimate should include play equipment, engineered wood fiber surfacing and all
installation . The existing playground will be removed by a separate contractor. The irregularly shaped
playground container is approximately 5,4 00 square feet. Proposals will be evaluated by the Parks
Commission based on neighborhood input , maximization of the footprint, and cost.

For more information, feel free to call me at 651-762-6342 or contact Public Works Director Scott Anderson at
651-762-6326. Staff would appreciate the opportunity to view your proposal ahead of the neighborhood
meeting. We request that you reach out to us by May 1 if you intend to make a proposal. We appreciate
your time and effort in preparing creative playground designs for the Hugo Parks, Recreation and Open Space
Commission!

Thank you,

Shayla Denaway
Parks Planner

Cc: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director
