<br /> <br />BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON APRIL 6, 2026 <br /> <br /> <br />D.1 March 16, 2026, City Council Meeting <br />D.2 March 24, 2026, 165th Street AUAR Open House <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the above minutes as presented. <br /> <br />F.1 Hugo Fire Department Annual Report – Fire Chief Jim Compton, Jr. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Jim Compton will present the Hugo Fire Department 2025 Annual Report. <br /> <br />F.2 M Health Fairview Annual Report – District Chief Kevin Kane <br /> <br />District Chief Kevin Kane will present the MHealth Fairview Annual Report. <br /> <br />G. 1 Approve Claims Roster <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented. <br /> <br />G.2 Approve Six-Month Performance Review and Completion of Probationary Period for <br />Public Works Worker Ryan Christiansen <br /> <br />At its October 6, 2025, meeting, the Council approved the hiring of Ryan Christiansen as the <br />new Public Works Worker with a start date of October 20, 2025. On April 20, 2026, Ryan will <br />have completed his six-month probationary period. Public Works Director Scott Anderson <br />recommends Council approve the performance review and completion of probationary period for <br />Public Works Worker Ryan Christiansen. <br /> <br />G.3 Approve Hiring Public Works Summer Seasonal Workers <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council approval to hire seasonal employees for the Public Works <br />Department. In the 2026 General Fund Budget, Council approved funding for seasonal employee <br />positions. There are five seasonal workers who are interested in returning from last <br />year. Seasonal Public Works Employees assist with mowing, garbage/litter removal, park <br />maintenance, boulevard maintenance, and general Public Works maintenance. Staff recommends <br />Council approve the rehiring of last year’ s seasonal employees: William Heise, Beck Rogers, <br />Jacob Weierke, Kristofer Bower, and Matias Evert. <br /> <br />G.4 Approve Donation to the Hugo Fire Department from the Hugo American Legion <br /> <br />The Hugo American Legion would like to donate $1,000 to the Hugo Fire Department from pull- <br />tab proceeds. All donations to the Fire Department must be approved by the Council. Staff <br />recommends Council approve the donation of $1,000 to the Hugo Fire Department. <br /> <br /> <br />
