Rep.)
Chuck Haas (City Council Rep.)
Laurie McRostie, OSM
Enclosed are the minutes from the May 12,1999, Parks Commission Meeting for your review.
1. Chuck Haas provided an update on the Townhomes of Bald Eagle Lake. This is a PUD
application before the City Council. The density of development is high, 196 townhomes, and
the proposed open space is primarily wetland. The parks commission recommends that
additional open space be included in this project in return for the PUD consideration. The open
space could be commonly owned and would not be part of the City's park system.
2. Bronwen Kleissler provided a Planning Commission update. At the last planning meeting she
had brought forth the wish of the Parks Commission to be part of the development application
review process. Parks wants to be involved so that, at a minimum, they can make
recommendations on whether trails are included in a development and if park land or cash
should be taken by the City. No action was taken but the Planning Commission was willing to
continue to discuss this issue. Kleissler will continue this item with the commission.
3. Beaver Ponds - 5th addition is before the Council. These additions do not include the Hauble
property. Beaver Ponds has already dedicdated land for a park; the park expansion, that will
occur when the Hauble land develops will not occur for some time. Hauble is not going to sell
for 5 to 10 years.
4. The development called Whispering Pines, on 61, was discussed. There was some question
as to wether this land would be developed and if not should it be acquired for park land. The
status of the property is unclear; in addition the criteria for prioritizing the selection of park sites
has not been completed. This issue will be revisited in the future.
