Page 2
Meeting Minutes
Parks Commission
January 12, 1999
•
4. Discussed need to find large land area that could be used for community facility.
County plat maps are available. Pete is looking into working with the County to
sort parcels that are vacant and 40 acres or larger. it was suggested that the
search also include parcels that are 20 acres. A package land deal could be put
together.
5. Strategic planning will be postponed until the February meeting. Some discussion
did occur. It will be important to determine criteria for community park land
selection and all of the other objectives that have already been determined.
Priorities must be set that will have a basis established in the mission statement
and values that will be determined next month. All of the committee members had
done their homework; reviewing the Park Master Plan for values, facts and
objectives. Each one also had a mission and value statement in mind. Pete had
written his down and this was shared with everybody. Robyn will take Pete's work
and transfer it to a flip chart so that his words will be the beginning of the
discussion in February. It was hoped that Ron McRoberts would be able to attend
the February meeting.
6. A sign for the park at City Hall, that lists rules and hours, still needs to be
completed. Kathy said that Bob Museus was researching rules etc. for the sign.
7. A meeting will be on February 3, at City Hall to discuss the Oneka Boat Launch.
The DNR and engineers will attend.
8. Consultant will obtain Planning Commission and Council meeting minutes on a
regular basis and keep the Parks Commision informed.
9. The next meeting will be either February 9 or 10 depending on Ron McRoberts
schedule.
SCHEDULE CHANGE: Future park commission meetings will be held on the
second Wednesday of each month if needed.
The preceding represents the landscape architect's understanding of the principal matters
discussed. These notes will stand as a record of the above dated meeting unless written
corrections are received within ten days of issue.
c: Parks Commission
Bob Museus
