January 5, 1987 Motion made by Atkinson, seconded by Potts, to appoint Ron Istvanovich as Civil Defense Director for the year 1987. VOTING AYE: Potts, Olson, Atkinson VOTING NAY: Peltier, Vail Motion Carried. 10.10 Appointment of Fire Department Officers Motion made by Potts, seconded by Peltier, to appoint Ron Istvanovich as Fire Chief, James A. Wisner as 1st Assistant Chief, and James Comption as 2nd Assistant Chief. All aye. Motion Carried. 10.11 Appointment of Zoning Administrator 7 Currently the Zoning Administrator for the City of Hugo responsible for interpret- ation and administration of the city Zoning Ordinance is City Clerk, Mary Ann Creager. It was the recommendation of the City Administrator that since he and Carole LaBelle will be dealing with the public more frequently, that they be appointed to this position. Motion made by Atkinson, Pott seconded, chat City Administrator, Ken Huber, be appointed Zoning Administrator, and Carole LaBelle, Assistant Zoning Administrator, for the year 1987. All aye. Motion Carried. 10.12 Appointment of Planning Commission Chairman and Secretary The City Ordinance requires that the City Council appoint the chairman and secretary to the Planning Commission at the first regular Council meeting in January. Motion made by Atkinson, seconded by Potts, to appoint Harry Rudisill as Planning Commission Chairman and Carole LaBelle as secretary. All aye. Motion Carried. 11.0 MISCELLANEOUS 11.1 Set Date for Next Council Meetin In that the second regular meeting of the City Council falls on a legal holiday (1/19), it is necessary to set the next regular meeting in Janary. In the past, the Council has designated the day following the holiday as the next regular meeting date. Motion made by Peltier, seconded by Vail, to schedule the next regular Council meeting on January 20, 1987, because of the legal holiday on 1/19/87. All aye. Motion Carried. Mayor Atkinson expressed a desire to write to the Interstate Commerce Commission re- questing they expedite their plans to abandon the railroad right-of-way through Hugo. He felt abandonment would encourage or make available an opportunity for downtown development. The Council concurred, and the Mayor will formulate a letter to the ICC and submit a copy to the Council for their review.
