r 5 <br /> ORDINANCE 1987-244 <br /> AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING IDENTIFICATION NUMBERING ON BUILDINGS <br /> AND RESIDENCES, PROVIDING FOR COMPLIANCE AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES <br /> The City Council of the City of Hugo, Minnesota, does ordain: <br /> Subd. 1 . All residences and businesses in the City of Hugo must have the approved <br /> address displayed in a manner making them clearly visible for a public <br /> roadway. <br /> 1 . Numbers shall be no less than 6" high. <br /> 2. Numbers shall be of contrasting color to the building, if affixed <br /> thereon. <br /> 3. Numbers shall be placed in such a way to be clearly visible from a <br /> distance of 100' from a public roadway. <br /> Subd. 2. In situations where buildings are located more than 100' from a public <br /> roadway or situated so that house numbering cannot be clearly visible <br /> from the roadway, one of the following procedures for address numbering <br /> must be followed: <br /> A. Addresses may be posted on all mailboxes in the following manner: <br /> 1 . Numbers should be posted on both sides of the mailbox. <br /> 2. Numbers shall be reflective and no less than 4" high. <br /> B. When it cannot be determined where an address is, because mailboxes <br /> are grouped, there is more than one driveway attached to the <br /> main driveway, driveways are close together, and/or house addresses <br /> cannot be clearly seen from the street or main driveway from a <br /> distance of 100' , then addresses shall also be marked in the following <br /> manner: <br /> 1 . Addresses shall be affixed to a steel post or 4 x 4 wooden post <br /> no less than 5' above ground level. <br /> 2. Numbering post shall be located at the end of the driveway no <br /> more than 30' off the street. <br /> 3. Numbering post shall be located within 5' of either side of <br /> the driveway. <br /> 4. Numbering post shall be marked with no less than 4" reflective <br /> numbers. <br /> 5. The post shall be numbered on both sides so as to be clearly <br /> visible from either direction of travel. <br /> Subd. 3. For new construction, no certificate of occupancy shall be issued until <br /> this ordinance has been complied with and all existing buildings shall <br /> be in compliance with this ordinance by January 1 , 1988. <br /> Subd. 4.
