Bill Lentsch gave an update on his project at the former End Zone site. He discussed the <br />MNDOT letter. Bryan Bear stated that staff will set up a meeting with the developer and <br />MNDOT. The applicant stated that he is having a hard time finding tenants; he needs at least <br />50% leased to receive financing from the bank. <br />Update on Downtown Redevelopment <br />Staff updated the EDA on the progress of the downtown redevelopment projects. Carpenters <br />Restaurant owners continue to work on a redevelopment plan for the site. There has been no <br />contact with the owners of Ricci's restaurant to date. The CDD updated the EDA on the <br />147th Street and Highway 61 intersection improvements. <br />Discussion on Marketing and Promotion of the City Following the May 25 Tornado <br />The City has repeatedly received praise for its efforts in managing the recovery process <br />following the disaster. The city staff believes the extraordinary media coverage the City has <br />received during the past few weeks has cast a positive spotlight on the attitude and <br />professionalism found within the City of Hugo. Staff discussed with the EDA ways to <br />promote the City during this unique time as a good place to locate a business. <br />Tom Weidt from the Planning Commission talked to the EDA about a marketing plan for the <br />City. Tom stated that he is working with the local, Minneapolis, and St Paul papers to donate <br />full page ads for a "Thank You" to all that helped during the disaster. Tom talked about <br />getting developers involved in the promotion of the City. Granger stated that the City needs <br />new population signs to show that we have aver 12,000 people now. There was a consensus <br />within the EDA that marketing should be done for the City. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Granger made a motion, seconded by Klein, to adjourn at 10:00 am. <br />
