The EDA stated that they like the senior housing concept better than <br />apartments for the area. The EDA members agreed that if apartments were going to be <br />planned for the project that the complex be sized to accommodate on site building and <br />property maintenance. <br />Arcand made a motion, seconded by Puleo, to direct staff to continue working with Mr. <br />Sampair on the redevelopment plan and to relay the EDA's support of the project with <br />additional comments to the Planning Commission. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />UPDATE ON EDA ANNUAL REPORT <br />The EDA Annual Report is updated with additional items the EDA directed staff to <br />include. No action was needed from the EDA, since the report was approved at the <br />February meeting with the changes. <br />UPDATE ON FEBRUARY 15, 2011 BUSINESS BREAKFAST <br />On Tuesday, February 15, 2011, a business networking breakfast was held in the Oneka <br />Room at Hugo City Hall. Stephen Kelly, an adjunct teacher at Century College, presented <br />on the principles of social media. There were approximately 60 people that attended the <br />meeting. <br />Miron stated that the EDA should continue to support these events. He stated that it was a <br />great networking opportunity for the businesses. <br />UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT <br />Staff will update the EDA on the progress of downtown redevelopment. <br />Rachel Juba stated that Bioscitex has pulled their lease for the building on located at 5525 <br />140th Street. The owner of the property will continue to find a new business to own or <br />lease the building. <br />Maid Rite Restaurant, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, has expressed interest in <br />locating in Hugo. They are looking for a franchise to locate in the City. Staff included <br />information on Maid Rite in the EDA packet. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Bever made a motion, seconded by Graff, to adjourn at 11:05 am. <br />All aye. Motion carried. <br />
