IM <br />i'd <br />IMM4 <br />40MENEW <br />Christ Lutheran Church Starts Construction <br />After receiving site plan approval by the <br />Planning Commission, Christ Lutheran Church <br />was issued a building permit and started con- <br />struction of its 12,000 square foot facility. The <br />property is located at 4790 Rosemary Way. The <br />facility will include worship space as well as a <br />daycare center. Christ Lutheran Church has <br />been worshiping in the Oneka Elementary <br />School for the last several years. They have ac- <br />quired several parishioners in Hugo that has <br />caused the need for a second facility to the ex- <br />isting church in North St. Paul. The church is ex- <br />pected to open Spring/Summer 2014. <br />Washington County Evaluates Economic Development <br />Since the beginning of 2013, the Washington County Board has been evaluating its role in eco- <br />nomic development. The process started with an economic development workgroup consisting <br />of staff from the cities in the county. They discussed the county's current role in economic devel- <br />opment and what additional items the county could consider to help its cities. In an effort for. fig- <br />ure out the role, the County hired Springsted Inc. to develop a County wide economic develop- <br />ment strategic plan. This will be completed through analysis of data collected on Washington <br />County in regards the local economy, business sectors, and several community engagement <br />exercises. The goal of the plan is to have realist recommendation on how the county will be in- <br />volved in economic development. The outcomes will be presented at the League of Local Gov- <br />ernments Meeting in early 2014. <br />LaValle Fields Senior Housing Concept Moves Ahead <br />In 2012, the concept plan for the <br />LaValle Fields development was <br />reviewed for • informal comments <br />from all the Commissions and the <br />City Council. The developer has <br />made a formal application for a <br />preliminary plat and planned unit <br />development (PUD). The project <br />is proposed to consist of a 130 <br />unit senior housing complex as <br />well as 3 market rate apartment <br />buildings consisting of 165 units. <br />The total The overall density of <br />the development is just over 10 units per acre. The senior housing development is proposed to <br />be the first phase and the apartments the second phase.
