Washington <br />County's Library <br />Express is located <br />at Hugo City Hall. <br />To check out a book <br />and arrange pick up <br />at the library lockers <br />at City Hall, go to <br />www.co.washington <br />.mn.us/library. <br />NiNOrical <br />pprELilw <br />The Historical Com- <br />mission is charged <br />with preserving and <br />protecting the <br />history of Hugo. <br />Meetings are held <br />on the third Tuesday <br />of each month at <br />7:00 p.m. in the <br />Oneka Room. <br />No Historical <br />Commission is <br />complete without <br />volunteers and <br />community histori- <br />ans, so anyone who <br />would like to attend <br />or contribute is <br />welcome. <br />201S Ci,t� c,oa Ls <br />Goal #1 Infrastructure <br />In 2013, the City will evaluate and imple- <br />ment a number of infrastructure improve- <br />ments. These include developing the <br />CSAH 4 Corridor Plan, developing funding <br />for the pavement management program, <br />focusing on stormwater management <br />projects, forming high speed internet <br />provisions, and evaluating City facility <br />space needs. <br />Goal #2 Public Safety <br />The Joint Powers agreement with White <br />Bear Lake for Basic Life Support services <br />will be updated. The Fire Department will <br />work on leadership succession plan. The <br />City will review their disaster response <br />plans, specifically, the security of public <br />buildings and the costs associated with <br />that. <br />Goal #3 Economic Development <br />Long term strategies will be developed for <br />industrial developments. This will include <br />a study of the Northern Area Gateway Plan <br />and a discussion on the extension of City <br />services to this area. A marketing plan for <br />the City will be implemented which <br />includes incentives to do business in Hugo, <br />identifying marketing options, and costs as <br />well as needs for targeted industrial parks. <br />Redevelopment of downtown Hugo contin- <br />ues to be a priority which includes focus on <br />partnering with individuals on the stock <br />lumber site and the sale of the City -owned <br />properties. The City will also continue to <br />reach out to existing businesses. <br />Goal #4 Parks Projects <br />Recreational programming will continue to <br />expand to include teens and seniors. <br />Identifying funding sources for redevelop- <br />ment of Lion's Park will include looking at <br />grants, donations, private investments, and <br />park funds. The City will look into <br />incorporating a Veteran's memorial within <br />Lions Park. Location and funding options <br />will be discussed for a City dog park. <br />Missing trail links within the City will be <br />identified and completed. <br />Goal #5 Comprehensive Plan <br />Implementation <br />Metropolitan Council grant opportunities <br />to help initiate land use studies for mixed- <br />use zoning areas will be researched. <br />Zoning and subdivision ordinances will be <br />reviewed and updated. The stormwater <br />plan will be completed. The downtown <br />plan will be reviewed. <br />Goal #6 Water Conservation <br />A Water Conservation Committee will be <br />formed to orchestrate discussions on <br />stormwater reuse/management and water <br />rates/conservation. Water conservation <br />education, encouragement and incentives <br />will be established. The City will look at <br />the possibility of collaborating with other <br />cities and entities on water supply options. <br />Hugo receives International Business Retention <br />and Expansion Award. <br />Ongoing Priorities <br />The Hugo City Council also maintains <br />ongoing priorities. These include: <br />-Maintain quality staff <br />-Council is committed to work collabora- <br />tively with Commissioners to build a <br />stronger team <br />-Continue to build a diverse and stable tax <br />base <br />-Continue with community outreach <br />-Build and maintain legislative and <br />regional relationships <br />
