Ask the Mayor What has been your favorite community event this summer? HUGO The City of Hugo offers many community events which are widely enjoyed by community members. Among them, my favorite community event of the summer was National Night Out because it reminds me that Hugo is a community of "good neighbors" living within strong neighbor- hoods. National Night Out is a community -building campaign that promotes camaraderie between public safety officials and residents to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between all those who make up our great City, including residents, the Washington County Sheriff's Department, the Hugo Fire Department, and our City's elected officials. On August 4th, I started out my night atr.� Lion's Park, which hosted "Community Night Out." It was a wonderful sight to see residents come enjoy the food and events provided by the Hugo Business Association and donate to the Hugo Food Shelf. Throughout the night, the IOlICY LOYYQYflY PA BTiPB86il8 City Council members and I visited many neighborhoods around the City. There were nine official neighborhood gatherings, but as I drove around the City, I could see the event was celebrated by many more. Events like National Night Out are a fantastic way to get people out into their community to interact with their neighbors. A united neighborhood strengthens the fabric of community and provides for a much safer and prosperous City. I want to thank all of the residents who supported this event through participation; it is one of the many reasons that the City of Hugo is a community to be proud of.
