Grants
Grant information from the DNR for 2000 was discussed. Many of the deadlines have already passed for this
year. Pursuing grant funding needs to be a high priority for the Commission. The school district, through
Bunny Peterson, is encouraged to apply for a grant for the new play structure. She is going to check on the
Outdoor Recreation Grant Program and see if an application could still be obtained.
111. Hugo Elementary School Play Equipment
Bunny Peterson presented the proposals for play equipment for Hugo Elementary. Three companies had
proposed. Costs for the equipment and what was included in each proposal was not clear to the Commission.
The Commission still has many questions about the process; a letter to the school district, addressed to Barbara
Kerns, will be prepared for Robyn LaCasse=s signature. The letter will outline the issues that need to be
resolved prior to the Parks Commission contributing financially to this project.
IV. Brochure
Robyn had prepared a draft brochure for review. The Commission felt she did an excellent job in putting
together a brochure that could be used when we talk to local land owners. Robyn will forward the brochure to
http://vvww.ci.hugo.mn.us/Parks Recreation/minutes/Parks02l400.htm 10/3/2007
